I hate it when people find ways to spam useful tools and content. Blogs are immensely popular these days, and wordpress and blogger are just a few examples of good free blogging interfaces. Due to the popularity of the blogs, Google and other search engines usually provide a better link juice and Search Engine positioning for these blogs under their target keywords/industry.
However, this is being exploited on a large scale, and you can find millions of useless blogs that only have one common aim: Get links back to the website. Of course, Google is not stupid, neither are other Search engines. They simply demote these link oriented blogs. But I am more concerned about the integrity of free blogging platform providers like Wordpress and Blogger. Spam blogs usually waste a lot of disk space, and even though some of them are found by the administrators, most of them go unnoticed. I have personally seen a blog that had 9 posts, of which each blog had less than 50 words, and stuffed with anchor text dotted around by useless names. I will not link to the blog and make it popular; still, you can indeed find these blogs on a daily basis.
Make sure your blog is being found by the community or the people you are targeting, and make sure that your blogging platform is active. Even if you don’t get links initially, be patient and blog often. A few bloggers rarely get any back links, as their blogs are intended at providing information to their family, relatives and friends. For those people, make it a point to visit your blog at least once a month, or face the problem of deletion. Oh, who cares, we can go ahead and create another one, but that is where the problem lies!
